In traditional Maori Art the most dominant, mythical motif is the ›avianised man‹ or ›bird-woman‹. The most important visual Art forms are plaiting, relief carving & tattoo. Idea in this collection was 2 combine (& confront) this w/classic, European clothing – in order 2 express the contrasts & borders between what we see as primitive/civilianized, exotic/classic & barbaric/elegant. I used shoelaces instead of flax strips & exchanged tattooed skin w/leather applied on invisible tulle.« Anne-Sofie Madsen
